From white to white through the colours of life
At 10:30 a.m. on 23 July 2014, CAMPOFRÍO’s “Cuíd-T (Take care of yourself)“ campaign was inaugurated on Serrano Street, Madrid. Four artists have collaborated in it, with the leitmotiv of the bicycle. The four totems with our artistic proposals will be exhibited next to the bicycle lane in Serrano Street, between Goya and Jorge Juan Streets, for approximately one month.
The artwork I present, entitled From White to White through the Colours of Life, shows a white bicycle flying over the Madrid buildings under a rainbow of 6 colours. These buildings are my paintings. Life, above all, for me is full of colour, or rather of different “colours”. Since Newton’s Optical Theory, white is the compendium of all colours, the colour of light. This is for me one like any other. Moreover it is, in the words of Michel Pastoureau, the colour that represents the origin and the end of life (“the white of the cradle and the shroud”). Finally, the bike is a tribute to the “white bicycles” movement and a request for respect towards cyclists from other users of city roads.
